DIY Scrappy Heart

Posted by Johanna Fox on

We love fabric and we love all the juicy scraps we get after making our project. It's a good thing we also love a scrap buster!

February has many events but one that is also bursting with love is Valentine’s Day. We found this tutorial for making a scrappy heart and dove right into our scrap bin. You likely have one in your sewing room, but we also have one in the store located in the green dot section. Either way, it’s a quick and fun project that puts your scraps and hands to good use.

Or you can easily pull strips from a fabric roll or pre-cut of your choice. Since it will be Valentine's Day, we went with pinks, reds, and whites.

A full tutorial can be found on Polkadot Chair, for this post we are sharing the highlights.

First, you need the heart shaped form that one can pick up where floral products are sold.

Then you will need to find some scraps and cut them into strips.

Then you tie each strip with a double knot alternating colors / shades / patterns. We also think a monotone one would be just as lovely.

In one sitting, you can round the heart with tied scraps, and it’s finished.

It’s fast, easy, and loads of scrappy fun.
