Need a mystery? Head to Grassy Creek.

Posted by Johanna Fox on

Every year Bonnie Hunter of Quiltville leads a mystery quilt-along that relates to her travels. Since 2020 has had us at home, this year’s is about her home called Grassy Creek.

The colors are warm and wonderfully fall—and you can use her trademark paint chip method she employs every year.  The fun mystery begins Thanksgiving and her yardage and initial instructions are posted on the Quiltville Blog. The finished quilt is to measure at 94”x94” but like any pattern, you can adjust to make a smaller size that suits your needs.

 Grassy Creek Bundle StitchCraft

We put together this bundle for one of our customers and liked it so much we made a couple more for the shop. It has 24 pieces of quilting cotton featuring batiks from Hoffman Fabrics, Sun Print from Alison Glass, Grunge from Moda Fabrics and more. All rolled into one sumptuous Grassy Creek style bundle!

More Adventures with Leaders and Enders: Make Even More Quilts in Less Time by Bonnie K. Hunter

We also have this fantastic book from Bonnie Hunter called More Adventures with Leaders and Enders: Make Even More Quilts in Less Time. In the book, Hunter discusses how to organize your scraps (do you have those?) and put them to use. Inside, find 12 scrap quilts that can be pieced in between the lines of other sewing. Perfect for the multi-tasker!

Are your joining the quilt-along? Let us know in the comments.

  • I made her Double Delight Mystery quilt 4 years ago. Used my scraps and bought some to fill in. Loved doing it. Will definitely do Grassy Creek.
