On My Craft Table This Week

Hope you all had a nice Mother's Day - whether you enjoyed the love of a 2- or 4-legged family member or enjoyed a peaceful Sunday. I had the pleasure of seeing my mom and gifting her with a little something I thought she would like. It wouldn't be a gift from me without some fun wrapping element. I played with some leftover yarn and knotted it in increments to make a 'ribbon' then created a tassel for the center. I like the packaging to be fun, too! (Do you do anything fun to embellish gifts?)
I shared the mixed media postcards that I created for an international postcard swap sponsored by iHanna. I have been on the receiving end of some mailbox art in the past couple of weeks. Here is what has come in so far:
I have been working on a longtime project idea - contemporary/modern crazy quilting! It combines my love of mixed media and fabric with my enjoyment of handwork. I am beginning with a monochromatic look. Fun to create!
Finally I have started another knitting project- socks!! I cast on using this simple sock pattern from Cascade yarns (which we are adding to our shop) and a skein of their Heritage sock yarn.
I am knitting them using size 2 double pointed needles. They feel small compared to the sweater I just finished but I am excited to be on this knitting journey to a new wearable! And double pointed needles are so manageable to use!! Stay tuned!
What are you working on?
Make time to make something!

Johanna, your quilt blocks are beautiful. Love the colors!
I have always wanted to make a crazy quilt, with all of the lace, beading, and stitching embellishments, but I’ve found it a challenge to collect the traditional fabrics I’ve seen in crazy quilts. Your concept eliminates that challenge. I am inspired once again!
